Preparing for the Future at Hartland

At Hartland International School, we recognise that every student’s journey is unique, and we are committed to equipping them with the tools and guidance needed to make informed choices about their academic and career pathways. From Key Stage 4 through to Sixth Form, we provide structured support to ensure that students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence required for success in higher education and the professional world.

With a dedicated University and Careers Programme, expert career counselling, and access to leading platforms like UNIFROG, students are empowered to explore diverse opportunities, understand university application processes, and prepare for life beyond school. Whether they choose traditional A-Level routes or vocational BTEC pathways, every student is encouraged to set ambitious goals and develop the resilience to achieve them.

Student and Career Pathways at Hartland

The University and Careers Programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their academic and professional pathways. As part of this, students participate in a 15-hour taught course led by Mrs. Sheedy, Hartland’s qualified careers advisor. This programme focuses on career research, university applications, and professional development, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the transition beyond Sixth Form. Work experience placements are an integral part of the Sixth Form curriculum, providing students with valuable industry exposure and practical insights into their chosen career fields. The school also offers personalised careers guidance, supporting applications to universities across the UK (UCAS), US, Canada, Europe, and beyond. Furthermore, Hartland encourages students to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), a prestigious research-based qualification that enables students to explore a subject of personal interest in depth—an aspect highly valued by universities worldwide.
